Palazio de Cibeles is a multi-purpose building. Recently renovated, it is first and foremost the Town Hall but also has a large public space on the ground floor for people to come and lounge on the sofas, read the newspapers and use the free wifi. The public are also allowed to go up to the 6th floor, either to see some of the exhibits about the building but the main must-go to is the clock tower’s observation deck on level 8.
The main reason to come here though is for Terraza de Cibeles, the (admittedly pricey) roof top bar, with amazing views of Plaza de Cibeles and its glorious fountains. We came here late afternoon and enjoyed watching the sunset while drinking a number of their cocktails. This is not the place to spend the whole night, unless you want to bankrupt yourself, but it is ideal for a sundowner and some tapas. The service is hit and miss, but I love the slick look of the place and the fun vibe.
